How do you deal with a mom with menopause when im a teenager with my own hormone problems aka being a teen?

Bernard

okay my mom is going through menopause and im 13 going through "teenager hormones" and we're always fighting, what can i do to make the problem better

Emely

You just need to give each other some space. Menopause is not as much of an emotional coaster as puberty. You don't need to be so self centered, though. You're mom has been where you are, and if you talk to her, I'm sure she can help you and has plenty of good advice. If you're constantly fighting though, sometimes is just good to give each other some space. For a while almost every time I talked with my dad I would fight with him, even at dinner. So I stopped talking to him as much. Not like I cut off all contact with him, but I avoided long car rides alone, or talking about things that I knew would trigger a fight. And I did my best not to lash out when he would say things that bugged me. I would talk to my mom about it, and she would talk to him, usually toning it down a bit. So maybe try talking to your dad about issues. He has the best shot of reasoning with your mom. If it's really bad, he can act as a mediator between the two of you. That's why people have two parents. It helps to even things out. Good luck!

Etsuko

If you and her are relatively close talk to her about the fact you both are going through these things that are so similar even though there different hormonal problems, you might even be able to get a closer relationship with her. Thats what happened with me and mine when i was younger. Wed get frustrated or aggrivated and blame everything on the hormones, got to be almost an even understanding between us. Probably would mean a hell of alot to her if you did and talked with her about it too

Keenan

Be more understanding and empathetic. She may not realise how she may be affecting you with her "behaviour" but you may be just as disagreeable and just not see it, its always harder to see fault in ourselves rather than everybody else. Maybe ask to have a talk with her ( not a screaming argument) and point out how you are feeling. I think its great that you see that you are both dealing with hormonal rises and drops that's the first step to resolving any problems that may arise.

Ima

I'm dealing with the same thing. One thing you can do is do all you can to is calm your nerves down with some music and if she says things to you that seems hurtful turn it up and just jam. Another thing you can do is talk it over with your mom and tell her how u feel and since she is going through hot flashes and mood swings, try and help her out and ask if she needs anything to be courteous.

Edna

I am also going through that same problem, I am 17 and my mom is going through menopause, just be patient with her. Also, talk to her about any problems that you are having and tell her what you are thinking, she has been through what you are going through and Im sure she can help you. Good luck!

Caridad

When your mom is going through hot flashes, just go to your room and leave her be, she needs peace. When you are going through your own homone mania-go to your room and give both of you a little peace. I think that is the ONLY answer. Hormones are never a good mix. Good Luck, you know when things will get really overheated, use that as a key to stay away from each other. God Bless, Peace, Emma

Julianne

Get out of the house for as long and as often as you can. You will NEVER adjust to the personality conflicts she is displaying. They change at the drop of a dime totally unexpectedly. Dealing with it is impossible. Just take care of yourself and try not to internalize the madness. It's not your fault.

Eulalia

ya, what a drag, being a woman, life get to kick ya round, not just once, but later in life as well. Take notice, maybe she won't be too bad? But as her daughter pay close attention cause hereditarily you'll probably have it, around the same age, level of symtoms and discomforts. It helps a lot later to remember. Try to tolerate her and....avoid when you can't, hopefully she'll use the same wisdom. If you realy need some down time, try to learn to meditate, it's pretty easy to learn and helps incredibly, especially in the long term.

Beata

At least you understand what's happening, that's half the battle. When you and Mon are both not feeling emotional...if that ever happens at the same time, would be a good time to talk to her about what you stated above. It's hard, but just try to go with the flow so to speak. If you're feeling emotional, go for a walk, read a book, turn on a good movie. Just try to stay away from Mom, and maybe she'll do the same. Hope this helps....

Charline

omg i have the exact same prob (cept im 14)0i can get so frustrated sometimes! i helps tho to just go in you room and try to ignore it, just do something that will get your mind off it. other then that idk what else cuz i have the same thing happenng!

Jolie

what can you do to make the problem better..... don't agravate her. she is older, bigger and has the ability to squash you like a bug.. that means she wins!!!

Franchesca

i think you should come down and try to be nice ask her does she want to do something to ease things over talk to her about your mood swings that your bound to have

After not having a menstrual period for five years menopause why would light bleeding occur?

Deon

I take a low dose hormone. My doctor says I don't have ovarian cancer because he cannot palpate my ovaries. I seemed to have a regular cycle, puffed up breasts, grouchiness, etc. Is this normal?

Jacqualine

Its pretty much a golden rule that post menpausal bleeding needs to be investigated properly.. the reason is to rule out endometrial or uterine cancer... not to worry u as its usually something else but it needs to be rule out as its the most dangerous cuase..apart from cervical cancer maybe..anyway u need a pap smear if u havent had one recently, a pelvic examination, a transvaginal ultrasound to check the lining of the uterus and a scope into ur uterus..go see a gynae please

Bonnie

your vagina is probably scared of that low dose hormone stuff because you have been taking it too long. im being serious.

Etta

CN gave you good advice. Hope you take it. Good Luck

Are blood clots in a period a sign of the menopause?

Paul

I'm 40, never had children and have only been having blood clots for the last 8 months. Sometimes they are the size of the tampon. I can also suddenly have a very heavy 'flood' and the cramps can be very painful. The time between periods is also geting shorter but the periods themselves are no longer. Could it be pre-menopause? Or anything to be concerned about?

Gigi

i hope not... things like that happen to me sometimes and i am 23, but i never worried about it really because i have always had problems and my mum did too so i haven't really thought about it, having looked at some of your answers i think i might have too see my doctor about it :/

Basil

Usually, though, the clots are very small. If you are having quite big ones it just means that you have quite a lot of blood at the period. You should make sure you don't get anaemic by eating plenty of iron-rich foods or taking iron supplements. Clots don't mean there is anything wrong with you. Your far too young for menopause! It is normal - remember that you're shedding the blood lining of your uterus! I dont think its anything to be concerned about but maybe to put your mind at ease go to your gp or close family planning clinic. Your body's obviously changing because youve just hit 40.. Your body needs to adjust.

Margery

It sounds like you've had a change in lifestyle in some way. Are you on your feet more/less? Has your activity level changed in any way? are you stressed? Those are the things that change my period. I just recently read a great deal about menopause because I was wondering if I was going into it way too early and I didn't read anything about clotting.

Bryon

Blood clots are not indicative of the menopause. Fibriods, which become more common at your age are one possibility. However you do need to go and see your GP. Provided a recent smear is normal, the next investigation should be an ultrasound scan.

Diedre

I started Menopause at the age of 32....by 44 I was in the throes of it....passing pieces of liver...sorry to be so graphic...but true!!! Be careful and watch it..I almost became Anemic....I would only have approx. a week (if lucky) between periods. Good luck...HUGS!!

Charlsie

i dont think its a sighn on menopause, Thats normal sweaty nights. Chech this websitehttp://www. nhsdirect. nhs. uk/articles/article. aspx? articleid=246Very useful. x

Alana

Mine started clotting when I was like 14ish. All blood clots, thats what it does.

Bianca

i get blood clots and im only 23 so no i don't think its a sign of menopause

Isidra

If they are the size of a tampont hen you should probably see a doctor; I've never personally heard of that being a sign of pre-menopause or anything like that, but its worth getting checked out anyway. Especially if you have pretty bad cramps. You could have endometriosis or something like that, and it can get pretty serious if left untreated. You're a bit young for menopause I'd say, but I guess everyone is different!

Menopause?

Vikki

They say it is impossible for a woman to conceive once she has entered menopause. My friend was just told she is in menopause, and she is devastated beyond belief. She was trying to have a child. Have you ever heard of women conceiving after menopause?

Alberto

A friend of mine went into early menopause. She then conceived a year later!?!?!? Get a second opinion maybe. But definately get her to start on Chaste Tree Liquid. It can help to regulate hormones. Check out the HERB section of: http://www. marilynglenville. com/infertil…Chaste tree (aka agnus castus) is a very powerful herb & underestimated. Also try Cascade Cream - rub on tummy where ovaries are. I used both of these (Cascade for 6 months & Chaste tree for 12 months). They cured my pcos symptoms & I have a baby! I noticed them starting to work after only 3 months tho!! Once I stopped using them my cycle was always regular (before then I only ever got my cycle once or twice a year - if that). You could get both these items from a naturopath - otherwise try health shop or google them on the internet as I'm sure you can buy online. Let me know how she goes - don't lose hope!

France

Unfortunately once you are in menopause you stop ovulating and stop having period.... I don't know your friend's age but she could consider donor egg.... that if she is approved for the program base on the test they will recomend your friend to do. Good luck to your friend... I know how that feels from personal experience.... I am currently working with GIVF(www. givf. com) and I was matched with a donor in 2 months....

How do you know menopause has begun?

Asuncion

For the past 2 (two) years I have not been having regular periods. Within the past year I only menstruate once every three months. When I do it is very painful with all the gross moods etc. Am I going through menopause? I am 44 years old.

Cordia

you may be startiing menopause. It will be wise to see your doctor and have an ultrasound. The doctor will be able to assure you. I have just been through these medical tests. Good luckJ

Bev

I've been going through menopause for at least 10 years now. That could be the beginning stages for you, no one is the same.

Ilona

i now reached stage 2!!!

Arletha

It sounds to me like menopause. My Mother was through it by the age 41, and that's about the age I started it. I got to a point where I couldn't stand the hot flashes and night sweats anymore, as well as the mood swings. My family couldn't stand it either! Then a friend introduced me (gently) to Himilayan Goji Juice and told me that it may help as it is the only functional juice on the market with medical validation. I started taking 2 oz in the morning and 2 oz in the evening, as prescribed, and within a week the flashes were completely gone! I also hadn't been sleeping, terrible insomnia, and wasn't sure if it was because of menopause or my Mother passing away 2 years ago. The juice has helped me have deep restful sleeps ever since. Everything is now leveled off and I feel great! Because of my excitement with this product, I started a business with it and have been sharing it with diabetics, people with MS and many other ailments and have been seeing success everywhere!! If you are interested in this, please contact me, you will be glad you did!

What are some of the reasons for movement in the stomach of a 70 year old woman who is post menopause?

Elva

I have had movement in my stomach for over a month now. It doesn't hurt just annoying. It feels like I'm carrying a baby, but I know that's not possible. My stomach has become larger.

Delphia

Most likely it is just gas moving around in there. It could also be muscle spasms. Can you actually see the stomach move? If so, it is your muscles.
