If i was 42 when i had a total hysterectomy how much longer will i have to endure menopause?

Carson

I was forced into menopause (hot flashes, night sweats) after my total hysterectomy. I use a hormone patch which works very well, but I wonder how much longer I'll have to use it.

Christian

Women who go through surgical menopause will sometimes have menopause symptoms until natural menopausal age.

At what age does menopause start if you first got your period at age 12?

Floretta

what the other girls said is truebut you can also get it in your 20's which is really scary, but also pretty rare. just thought id let you know lol. doesnt matter what time you get your period, menopause is normally around the same age for everyone - 50- 60

Kiara

I'm not positive, but I think the age you start your period is irrelevant to when you begin menopause, I don't think many people begin menopause before their fifties. here are the symptoms of menopause though, hopefully this will help :)http://www. mayoclinic. com/health/menopause/ds00119/dsection=symptomsgood luck =D

Bella

When you get you period wont really matter, depends on the person and what you do over the next 20-30 years. For example, smoking causes menopause to start early.

I just turned 40 and am experiencing hot flashes is it menopause?

Hermine

I had a partial hysterectomy at the age of 28 for fibroid tumors. I already had 4 kids, and had been suffering for a couple of years. I turned 40 just 2 months ago, and have been having hot flashes for about 6 weeks, is it menopause or something else? We don't have medical insurance, so going to the doctor to run the normal test for menopause is not an option.

Adalberto

It just may. Take 800 or 1,000 IU of Vitamin E a day. See if it works, after a few days. Good luck

Isabell

I'm going to school to be a medical assistant, and we learned that women who have hysterectomies, tend to start menopause early. There's also pre-menopause that women can go through as early as in their 30's. My mom is 43 and is going through menopause. she also had a partial hysterectomy. I think it is very likely that you're going through menopause.

Lavinia

If you are over than 40 , it can be menaupose symptoms but at 40 you still be young and can give children again. Not sure! check : http://www. menopauseandweight. com see that site you can read and perhaps you will find an answer. But what it's obvious, don't use hormonal replacement. Hope for you good health.

Any old time remedy for menopause?

Josette

A friend of mine has lost her ovaries to cancer recently. She is young, but due to this mishap, she is going through menopause. Any old time remedies?

Denese

She has lost a large percentage of ovary production by losing her ovaries. Now all the burden lies in the adrenal glands which normally produce 15% of the body's ovaries when the ovaries are still doing its job. So the adrenal glands need more support than ever. Vitamin C helps to support the adrenals as well as flaxseed oil, blackcurrant seed oil, Drenamin (from Standard Process Inc) has the best adrenal support supplement. Avoid things that weaken the adrenals: dairy products, caffeine, sugars, processed grain, sugar-free products, etc. Good luck to her!

Kory

Dairy products include anything with cow's milk: cheese, yogurt, ice cream, as well as chocolate. Refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, enriched flour, etc. will greatly weaken the adrenals. Report Abuse

Emilee

yes i am 51 and going through the same thing, go out side and scream as loud as you can, then go take a cool shower for the hot flashes and have some ice tea also get some menopause med. to help

Glenn

Well you'll see menopause is cuased by the lack of sexual hormones produced by the ovaries. I don't the precise technique used i your friend but if both were extracted, there is no natural production in her body of estrogen therefore she would need supplemetary hormone therapy at for to get over the symptomes and even if there are estrogens naturally produced by plants, fitoestrogens, they are to be taken seriously and your endocrinologist is the most qualified person to give you advice in this matter because hormone replacement therapy cannot be taken ligthly.

What are some of the signs that you are beginning menopause?

Ena

I've always been a 28 day girl you could set you clock by my period, now it can be 25 days 23 days and then back to 28 days. I and 46 so could this be a sign the I and beginning menopause?

Brigitte

Menopause is the transition period in a woman's life when her ovaries stop producing eggs, her body produces less estrogen and progesterone, and menstruation becomes less frequent, eventually stopping altogether. Menopause is a natural event that normally occurs between the ages of 45 and 55.Once menopause is complete (called postmenopause), you can no longer become pregnant. The symptoms of menopause are caused by changes in estrogen and progesterone levels. As the ovaries become less functional, they produce less of these hormones and the body responds accordingly. The specific symptoms you experience and how significant (mild, moderate, or severe) varies from woman to woman. In some women, menstrual flow comes to a sudden halt. More commonly, it tapers off. During this time, your menstrual periods generally become either more closely or more widely spaced. This irregularity may last for 1 to 3 years before menstruation finally ends completely. A gradual decrease of estrogen generally allows your body to slowly adjust to the hormonal changes. When estrogen drops suddenly, as is seen when the ovaries are removed surgically (called surgical menopause), symptoms can be more severe. Because hormone levels fall, changes occur in the entire female reproductive system. The vaginal walls become less elastic and thinner. The vagina becomes shorter. Lubricating secretions from the vagina become watery. The outside genital tissue decreases. This is called atrophy of the labia. Symptoms : The potential symptoms include: - Hot flashes and skin flushing - Night sweats - Insomnia - Mood swings including irritability, depression, and anxiety - Irregular menstrual periods - Spotting of blood in between periods - Vaginal dryness and painful sexual intercourse - Decreased sex drive - Vaginal infections - Urinary tract infections In addition, the long-term effects of menopause include: - Bone loss and eventual osteoporosis - Changes in cholesterol levels and greater risk of heart disease

Bonita

At the age of 29 I started having menopause signs. First it was cold and hot sweats I didn't understand. Talked to the doctor and said that women could start having signs as early as 29. Report Abuse

those nasty mood swings and night sweats. they got sooo bad, i went and cut my hair very short so my wet hair would not wrap around my neck and strangle me.

Jonelle

Oh, yes! The best of health to you! The book "the pause" is a great book to read during this time of your life. Just think, it won't be long until you are through this faze of your life.

Cyril

yes, and decreased flow, and irritability, and dry vagina when you have sex, it can take ten years to get through the process.

Hollie

Menopause is a stage in life when a woman stops having her monthly period. It is a normal part of aging, marking the end of a woman's reproductive years. Good nutrition will help ease the symptoms of menopause by supplying a changing body with the nutrients necessary for optimal health throughout this transitional phase. Get enough calcium. A woman going through menopause needs 1000 mg to 1500 mg of calcium a day. Avoid excessive amounts of salt to reduce bloating associated with hormonal changes. What is the earliest age a woman can go through menopause?

Rex

Depends ;on your family history can start as early as 30's or as late as your 50's. Just depends on family history.

Raeann

im 25 and i have started because i tied my tubes but as early as early 20s

Faviola

The average age is 50 so 40 to 60 is normal. Women as young as 25 can be entering menopause. Having a tubal has NOTHING to do with menopause. A tubal does not alter the hormones which naturally drop off at menopause, all a tubal does is cut off the pathway for an egg to reach the uterus.

My mother is passing through menopause phase what should she take care of?

Pat

Currently she has no symptoms of hot flashes. Is there any specific dietary plans? what else should she take care of?

Collette

She should take a multivitamin for women over 50, Vitamin A for her eyes, Vitamin C as an antioxidant and Vitamin D plus Calcium/Magnesium for her bones. (She should consult with a naturopath or pharmacist about dosages.)She should get an annual screening mammogram and a pap smear every two years until age 70.She should see a doctor regularly for a medical check-up. She should be happy not to have hot flushes....I didn't either, some of us are lucky.

Elizebeth

First your mom should seek the advice from a doctor. Then getting proper information on Women's Health is also very important. I personally have addressed such women's issues by regularly visiting a comprehensive website dedicated to help women. Such website contains valuable resource information on all topics related to WOMEN HEALTH, OB GYN & MEDICAL EXAM. All the information is updated daily on a continuous basis. I invite you to have a look at it. Like myself, I am convinced that you will find all the appropriate solutions/answers as well as all the precautionary means and tools to keep her in good health for many years to come. http://www. gynecography. com
