Is quite common to get breast cysts and mastitis when you are going through the menopause?

Eveline

Not common but not unheard of. I take it you have seen a doctor and he has diagnosed this! Because you must remember that all lumps need investigated. Mastitis can be very painful to ease this try putting some damp cabbage leaves inside your bra and this should help that burning sensation. Also your GP should prescribe some antibiotics for this.

At what age does menopause start if you first got your period at age 12?

Floretta

what the other girls said is truebut you can also get it in your 20's which is really scary, but also pretty rare. just thought id let you know lol. doesnt matter what time you get your period, menopause is normally around the same age for everyone - 50- 60

Kiara

I'm not positive, but I think the age you start your period is irrelevant to when you begin menopause, I don't think many people begin menopause before their fifties. here are the symptoms of menopause though, hopefully this will help :)http://www. mayoclinic. com/health/menopause/ds00119/dsection=symptomsgood luck =D

Bella

When you get you period wont really matter, depends on the person and what you do over the next 20-30 years. For example, smoking causes menopause to start early.

Can elderly women have orgasms after their menopause?

Sharilyn

I'm curious because I heard of cases where old women date young men and rarely marry them. I heard the ones that go after young men do it because they can satisfy them. And the young man might be with her for her money.

Deborah

Yes. And men can knock up fertile women well into their 90s (as long as they can get it up)Men actually get the "Curse" of old age and orgasm, since the prostate continues to grow and causes erectile dysfunction, and its difficult for a man to orgasm without an erection (yet, not unheard of)--That is another reason older women seek younger men, because all the men in their age group lost the ability to perform with a 4 hour erection, even with viagra!

Gabriela

The geriatric population is more sexually active than most people think. Yes, elderly women can have orgasms post menopause as orgasms are achieved through mechanical stimulation rather than hormonal changes. Elderly people enjoy sex activity just like anyone else and as long as they are safe with their methods and are aware of certain health conditions, they can take measures to ensure pleasurable activities. A little fact: STD incidence has increased dramatically in the elderly population due to lack of protection [condoms]. Because fertility is no longer an issue post menopause, the use of condoms is decreased and because a lot of elderly people are also immunocompromised [weakened immune system] and/or have other health issues [like diabetes for example = prolonged healing time], their signs and symptoms may vary. This brings up an interesting topic of conversation for your [and everyone else's folks]: Time for the sex talk but this time around, you're informing your elders. It is an important conversation to have because a lot of old fashioned ideas of protection have changed over the last 30+ years. It may be an uncomfortable conversation - giving your folks "the talk" but it may save them a lot of unnecessary treatment down the line.

Claudio

Some women falsely believe that menopause signals the end of their sex lives. Nothing could be further from the truth. Menopause is the end of fertility. It is not the end of a woman being a sexual being that requires intimacy and affection. The simple fact of the matter is that orgasm after menopause is quite possible. While achieving orgasm after menopause is possible, it might not necessarily be as easy to achieve as it was in the pre-menopausal days. There are some physical changes that go along with menopause that make this so. Some of the issues that might need to be overcome include:· Lack of desire. The simple fact of the matter is that libido can decrease incredibly with menopause. The hormonal changes that take place during this time of life tend to make sexual desire drop a whole lot.· Pain and dryness. When estrogen levels decrease, vaginal dryness is quite common. Unfortunately, this can lead to painful intercourse.· Weight gain. The water retention and weight gain that can sometimes go along with the menopausal stage might add to a feeling of lack of attractiveness.· Feeling changes. Arousal and orgasm might be harder to attain after menopause arrives. The hormonal changes are generally to blame for this.· Fatigue. Hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, mood swings and irritability can all add up to fatigue. This can quite often add to a reduced sexual drive. Extremely tired people don't necessarily have the greatest interest in intercourse. While there are obstacles that stand in the way of orgasm after menopause, each of them can be overcome in one form or fashion. Women who want to enjoy normal sexual activity following menopause will find certain steps they take can help. These include:· Letting go of the "taboo" – Just because menopause has arrived, doesn't mean a sex life needs to be over. Couples can be and very likely should remain intimate. Unless there is a medical condition that prevents sexual activity, taboo need not apply here.· Positive self-image. Women who work to retain their self-esteem and take menopause with the right attitude tend to do a bit better embracing sex after its arrival. It might take a little time to get used to the changes, but rest assured it can be done. The right attitude can go a long way in helping increase libido and arousal possibilities.· Compensating for the estrogen loss. Hormone replacement therapy may or may not be the answer, but there are other options, too. Lubricants can help with the pain and dryness. Kegel exercises are useful for helping the body retain its muscle tone and can even help in the production of natural lubricants.· Increased foreplay. Menopausal women might require extra stimulation to achieve arousal. Increased foreplay, cuddling and coaxing when mixed with proper lubricants can go a very long way. This can also help with the attainment of orgasm after menopause. The truth is achieving an orgasm might be harder than it once was, but it is not at all out of the question. While sex after menopause might be a bit different than it was before, orgasm after menopause is more than possible. Women and their partners very likely need to exercise patience with each other, but it will be worth it for maintaining intimacy and closeness. It is very important for women to remember that pregnancy is still possible in the pre-menopausal stage. It is typically recommended that some form of birth control remain in the picture for at least 12 months after the last menstrual cycle. Measures, of course, should be taken to prevent sexually transmitted diseases if they are a concern with the partner involved. With patience, persistence and some measures of compensation, orgasm after menopause is quite feasible. It's wise to be prepared for some differences in drive and sensation, but many couples find sex after "the change" is just as enjoyable if not more so than it was before.

Quintin

Yes, definitely. Orgasm relies on the function of the nerves and the brain, not on how much estrogen you have. You can't assume someone's intentions for being with someone who is younger or older. Everyone has their own reasons, and for a lot of people age has nothing to do with it.

Alina

That sounds funny but check out the heath magazine for all health related topics including menopausekonstantin. co. nr

Hermelinda

I imagine they can, I mean, their sex drive doesn't always die and sometimes improves after menopause. Also, all those nerve endings are still there.

Jacinda

of course! you can orgasm until you are 120! its not like your clit and g-spot just stop working after you stop getting periods.

Cletus

They may even be BETTER (no fear of pregnancy!) I know MINE ARE! WOO HOO! Wait, how old IS elderly?

Edgar

Yes

Nadine

yes.

Gidget

yes, we can have orgasms until we die.

Any old time remedy for menopause?

Josette

A friend of mine has lost her ovaries to cancer recently. She is young, but due to this mishap, she is going through menopause. Any old time remedies?

Denese

She has lost a large percentage of ovary production by losing her ovaries. Now all the burden lies in the adrenal glands which normally produce 15% of the body's ovaries when the ovaries are still doing its job. So the adrenal glands need more support than ever. Vitamin C helps to support the adrenals as well as flaxseed oil, blackcurrant seed oil, Drenamin (from Standard Process Inc) has the best adrenal support supplement. Avoid things that weaken the adrenals: dairy products, caffeine, sugars, processed grain, sugar-free products, etc. Good luck to her!

Kory

Dairy products include anything with cow's milk: cheese, yogurt, ice cream, as well as chocolate. Refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, enriched flour, etc. will greatly weaken the adrenals. Report Abuse

Emilee

yes i am 51 and going through the same thing, go out side and scream as loud as you can, then go take a cool shower for the hot flashes and have some ice tea also get some menopause med. to help

Glenn

Well you'll see menopause is cuased by the lack of sexual hormones produced by the ovaries. I don't the precise technique used i your friend but if both were extracted, there is no natural production in her body of estrogen therefore she would need supplemetary hormone therapy at for to get over the symptomes and even if there are estrogens naturally produced by plants, fitoestrogens, they are to be taken seriously and your endocrinologist is the most qualified person to give you advice in this matter because hormone replacement therapy cannot be taken ligthly.
