What are natural foods to help eleviate the side effects of menopause?

Liane

My mom has Menopause and read somewhere or saw on TV where they said (think it was Dr. Phil) where there are foods you eat and a special diet and you don't get those terrible hot flashes all the time that my mom is currently getting. Any advice or links appreciated!

Eddie

here is a website for your mom:http://www. associatedcontent. com/article…http://altmedicine. about. com/cs/womenshe…on this one: go down to natural remedies:http://www. the-natural-menopause. com/hope that helps. I have menopause and was taking the synthetic hormones, but I didn't feel right on them, so I took the natural approach and I do feel better. I rarely get hot flashes anymore. Hope this helps your mom.

In regards to menopause and soy, this food source has been shown to be a beneficial supplement for controlling unpleasant symptoms and ensuring proper nutrition during this critical life event. Since menopause is a time of decreased estrogen, it makes sense that eating and drinking soy during menopause can help regulate the body's hormone levels. Another wonderful benefit of soy products is that it tastes great and is available in all kinds of different forms. Coffee drinkers can easily substitute soy milk for regular milk in their morning beverage. Soy milk can be used in place of cow's milk in just about every capacity. Soy milk also comes in several different flavors. Choosing the right snack can help you meet your daily requirements as well. Soy nuts, chips, and pasta all contain those helpful menopause phytoestrogen components. Combining soy with menopause treatment options helps to regulate your general overall health and give your body a hormone substitute to work with. Soy products also contain elements that are beneficial to bone and cholesterol health. Both of which will need to be watched carefully in the later years of life. With soy and menopause treatments working together, you can be assured that you are doing everything possible to safeguard your health and control the unpleasant side effects of menopause. Consider a progesterone cream like Hot Flash Freedom to assist your natural menopause treatment plan.

Get enough calcium. A woman going through menopause needs 1000 mg to 1500 mg of calcium a day. Avoid excessive amounts of salt to reduce bloating associated with hormonal changes. More information and remedies at http://useinfo4.blogspot. com/

Barrie

I just turned 48. I have hotflashes and nightsweats. I stay tired and have no energy. I have had tests and bloodwork done and Dr. said I am in fullblown menopause. I just want to know what to do to feel good again.

Maryann

You can try natural herb for menopause. Nowadays most of the women rather preferred on trying some herbal menopause treatment which greatly appear to them as softer options. The use of the herbal menopause treatment has been continually increasing due to the reason that most herbalists greatly prescribed herbal menopause treatments. These herbs for menopause do not pose any serious side effects or risks for those who use them.

Hilary

You might consider bhrt. Bioidentical hormones can reduce various symptoms before, during or after menopause. BHRT has the unique advantage over regular prescription medications. Bioidentical hormones are compounded, meaning, the prescription is made specifically for each individual patient to meet their unique needs. Natural progesterone cream is a common bioidentical hormone therapy for menopausal women. You might also consider other natural solutions such as changing your diet, exercise, and natural herbal remedies such as black cohosh, chaste tree, damiana, dandelion, dong quai, false unicorn root, ginkgo, ginseng, licorice, red clover, and sage.

Can you have menopause six years after a radical hysterectomy?

Arturo

i had everything taken out because of a precancerous condition. Six years later, i am sitting in a 72-degree house with a fan on, sweating like crazy. Is it possible.

Allyson

Not unless you immediately began hormone therapy after the hysterectomy and subsequently ended it. My sister had it all removed in 2008, and her hot flashes began in the RECOVERY room. There are other things that may be causing your discomfort, like thyroid issues or high blood sugar, or simple obesity. Make an appointment with your doctor to rule out anything serious.

Emilie

You have entered menopause the moment your ovaries were removed. That said - yes you can be having hot flashes and other symptoms even 6 years into menopause.

Estrogen and progesterone signal cell division why do women still get breast cancer after the menopause?

Annamae

What I mean is that tamoxifen and drugs try to cancel the effects of estrogen and progesterone. That shouldn't even be applicable to women past menopause!

Norah

Scientists have identified two genes which are more likely to be defective in a breast cancer patient than someone without breast cancer. These genes are also blamed for some other cancers. However, even the two mutated genes are thought only to be responsible for approximately 5% to 10% of breast cancer cases. Hormones seem to have an important role in breast cancer. Research has shown a link between levels of the female sex hormone, oestrogen, and the risk of developing breast cancer. Women who take certain types of hormone replacement therapy are at higher risk of breast cancer. Women who have their first child later in life also appear to be at higher risk of developing breast cancer. Tamoxifen blocks the female sex hormone oestrogen. The hormone influences the growth of cells related to female reproduction, such as those in the breast or the uterus. If there is too much oestrogen in the system, cell growth can accelerate to the point where tumours start to develop. Tamoxifen competes with the sex hormone for the same proteins - called receptors - found on the surface of cancer cells. When the drug locks onto the receptors it blocks the way for oestrogen - which would otherwise activate the cancer cell to divide and make the tumour grow. Tamoxifen may cause cancer of the uterus (womb), strokes, and blood clots in the lungs. These conditions may be serious or fatal.

Nola

cancer is bad

Steven

My grandmother had breast cancer at the age of 75 and was put on tamoxifen, my mother has just gone threw an op and is not sure what medication if any she will be given. Not everyone is put on tamoxifen its all to do with estrogen receptors or something like that and that will depend what medication you get. I forget the exact words. The specialist told my mum genetics has a lot to do with it so its not always the hormones that mean they are given the tablets as they are meant to keep at bay the cancer. Its awhile since all this was explained to me so sorry if its a bit disjointed.

Cherri

estrogen and progesterone do a lot more than signal cell division. not all breast cancers are estrogen sensitive. some are independent of hormone stimulation and can arise from a familial defect or acquired because of exposure to certain carcinogens.
