Can you have menopause six years after a radical hysterectomy?
Arturo
i had everything taken out because of a precancerous condition. Six years later, i am sitting in a 72-degree house with a fan on, sweating like crazy. Is it possible.
Allyson
Not unless you immediately began hormone therapy after the hysterectomy and subsequently ended it. My sister had it all removed in 2008, and her hot flashes began in the RECOVERY room. There are other things that may be causing your discomfort, like thyroid issues or high blood sugar, or simple obesity. Make an appointment with your doctor to rule out anything serious.

You have entered menopause the moment your ovaries were removed. That said - yes you can be having hot flashes and other symptoms even 6 years into menopause.
