What can i do to help my mom with menopause?

Barbie

My mom is going through menopause and she is depressed and very irritable. I have a very bad temper and can't control my anger and can't help but show that I'm annoyed when she's miserable and cynical all the time. I know it's a hard time for her and I want to help her.

Alysha

Nothing. Hormones can't be controled during these times. Just be at her side, and listen and talk with her to maybe calm her down a bit?

Can a woman who has gone thru the menopause get pmt symptoms each month?

Jere

Like swollen breasts, bad temper, craving for chocolate, the usual things but most strange is the periiod pains. Help?

Delia

The menopause is considered the date of the last period but really we are talking about the perimenopause which is a number of years before the menopause and a number of years after the menopause. Fertility is said to have ended up to a year after the last period so the cycle continues but the levels of hormones are less and events, like ovulation and periods, are not necessarily triggered. This period of time varies with the individual but can take about ten years. During this time the ovary produces less oestrogen, but other cells take over that role, so the adrenal gland can produce some oestrogen and so do fat cells. Part of the reason many women lay down fat during this time in their life. The implication is that there is some hormonal imbalance and she probably need to think about her health and take a good yeast free multi vitamin mineral supplement and a good oil like Efamol's Efamarine. This should help with these conditions.

Freida

Oats are very good for helping to remove the excess oestrogen along with B vitamins. High oestrogen could trigger problems like endometriosis. Report Abuse

By definition if you have passed through the menopause there are no further cyclic changes.

Lyman

People say that it is not possible. However my mum has gone through the menopause and she seems to get PMT symptoms every month. I'm not sure if you have heard about women's cycles synchronising when they spend a lot of time together or are really close. Well There are 4 girls in my household. Our cycles are all almost perfectly synchronised. At the same time as us each month my mum gets stomach cramps and gets very moody and hungry etc. So I believe it is possible and like those of us who actually still have our period there isn't much that can be done. I recommend pain killers, lots of chocolate, pampering yourself and watching TV with your feet up. LolGood luckx

Caroline

Yes that's possible and this can even happen to women who have no wombs and ovaries anymore (my mom lol she hoped she wouldn get those symptoms anymore)

Any suggestions on how to deal with anemia related to menopause?

Harland

The doctor has prescribed vitamins. I was wondering if anyone else knew of a good website to get info or has anyone else dealt with this. I would prefer to treat this as naturally as possible. Peace.

Charmain

You can take xtra iron. Take it with a meal so it doesn't upset your stomach. It helps to also include vitamin C which helps to absorb iron. Your MD should be able to give you some medication to slow the blood loss to minimize the anemia. Might be something to consider. Some women become very tired and don't feel well. More related to the anemia than menopause. I prefer natural too; but sometimes drugs is the way to go for awhile. Won't be forever. Don't know about your preferred diet, but if you are vegetarian, you are more likely to become anemic. Red meat is a good source of iron.

Irina

cook with an iron skillet. Seriously. It will help with iron levels in your body. do you eat spinach at all? If not, you can sneak it in your foods and you won't notice it. I do this with my kids. I will make a salad and put spinach leaves in it. as long as there is ranch dressing on it the kids won't know. Also, when making lasagne, I chop up the spinach real small so it looks like oregano etc and the kids don't know that it's there.

I'd find a chat room and ask others in similar situations or ones that have been through it. The net has rooms with just about every topic. You'll make friends AND get info from those who are like minded or in the same boat. Yep... both answers above me seem right though.

Check the Wyeth website. They have been helping women for over sixty years with menopause symptoms. Good luck, GEM! http://www. wyeth. com/therapyareas

Menopause is a stage in life when a woman stops having her monthly period. It is a normal part of aging, marking the end of a woman's reproductive years. More information and remedies at http://useinfo4.blogspot. com/
