What can i do to help my mom with menopause?

Barbie

My mom is going through menopause and she is depressed and very irritable. I have a very bad temper and can't control my anger and can't help but show that I'm annoyed when she's miserable and cynical all the time. I know it's a hard time for her and I want to help her.

Alysha

Nothing. Hormones can't be controled during these times. Just be at her side, and listen and talk with her to maybe calm her down a bit?

If i start my period early does it mean i start menopause early too?

Darrin

I started puberty way earlier than my friends did. While they didn't grow boobs until 13, I had my period at 10 years old. For awhile I felt much more mature not only physically but mentally too. In high school, it suddenly hit me. I constantly asked that question to some of my friends. Some said yes, others said no. So would starting my period early mean I will start menopause early?

Monika

No. Certainly not. Starting your period early does not mean you'll start menopause early.

Marta

I doubt that. It depends on how you're body feels on when the time is to come when you can't bear children anymore

What is the average age women start to go through menopause?

Carl

46.3 yearsI googled it. ;)

Enid

Menopause has been known to occur in late 40's BUT MOSTLY it starts in early 50's. The common age for women to reach menopause is 51. Takes a year to confirm. Although there are various other health factors which can trigger menopause in some women.

Edna

the ages of 45 and 55.

Why do they call it menopause instead of menostop?

Tyesha

It's not coming back.

Melody

Personally, I don't care what it is called...as long as it's over and I didn't suffer too many of the symptoms associated with meno-whatever!! It's sad though to think all my eggs are dead!!

Margret

Good call.

Dorotha

My girlfriend calls it men o pause...she tells her husband....it means pause from men...no more sex. He doesn't seem to agree w/her tho.

Keeley

lol excellent question...!!

Elva

How long does menopause last?

Chance

Or at least all the torturous parts? I need to know how long my mom will be freaking out on my brother and me.

Halina

it lasts the rest of your life

Gricelda

A woman is menopausal after her periods have stopped for one year. Menopause typically occurs in a woman's late forties to early fifties. It is a normal part of aging, marking the end of a woman's reproductive years. More information and remedies at http://useinfo4.blogspot. com/

Anitra

How old is your mom, and how long has she been going thru this? Sounds to me like she needs to see her OB/GYN or family doctor and get some meds to control her symptoms. Mood changes are a major part of Menopause and a major problem if not controlled. Her doctor could give some suggestions.

Dagmar

Menopause is a natural part of life. And when it comes to nature, stick with nature. Although seeing your doctor is important and recommended, taking drugs may not be the best thing for a problem that was not caused by drugs - but by nature. Stick with nature. My mom went through menopause a few years ago and at that time I was staying with her for a few months while changing jobs/going back to college. It was then that yes, she was driving me nuts, so I started researching ways to help relieve her symptoms. It was then that I decided to go back to college and get my Master's in Human Nutrition from Bridgeport U. because I saw the simplicity of healing the body naturally when it was nature causing the problem. She took some herbs and her symptoms went down. They had a free trial period for two bottles or two months or something. I'll list their website. Also drinking green or white tea every morning and doing yoga radically improved my mom's state of mind AND health. Although, she didn't start doing these until after she was taking some natural herbs to help calm and relax her - but either way, the tea and yoga helped a lot, too. Good luck and may I recommend getting out of the house early because that seemed to be the worst time for my mom.

This happened to my boss too exactly the same. It actually happened a second time too, and never happened again. Hormones fluctuate.

Is heavy periods during the menopause common and do this cause low haemoglobin and iron levels?

Gertrudis

Heavy periods during the menopause is perfectly normal. And yes this would cause low Hb and aenemia. If blood loss gets excessive get GP to prescribe something that will help with this, or see Gynaecologist with view to a hysterectomy

Catheryn

It is not common. Heavy bleeding always causes anaemia!

Renato

It can be but my doctor fitted me with the merena coil. This releases hormones over a five year period. She told me that i can keep having it replaced every five years until i have gone through the change. She said that the hormones that are released in it are helpful with this change in your life and that they help with the effects that happen to you, e.g. hot sweats heavy bleeding, mood swings. Evening primrose oil capsules can help, as well as cranberry tablets that you can buy from any good health shop. My monthly period has gone from being so heavy for days on end to having next to no bleeding at all. I have had mine fitted for the last 3 years, and it has given me a new lease of life. speak to your doctor and get their advise.

Janella

I am going through peri-menopause and according to my doctor yes it is normal due to the changes we are going through, during this time hormones fluctuate and mineral levels you can have them tested and generally take what you are short in, which will in turn help all those symptoms of menopause, i am currently taking progesterone cream, vitamins, a, d,c, e,and Iodoral, dhea, and truly this had made a world of difference for me. I also highly recommend Suzanne Sommers book "Ageless". Which really goes in depth about all of this. Best of Luck.
