If you start menopause at an early age does that mean you live a shorter life span?

Deeanna

No, not if your menopause is within the normal range (44+). But if you're younger than that, then menopause can cause problems, and your lifespan, on average, will be shorter than average, due to the fact that not having hormones at that young age can damage your systems. It makes you more suceptible to certain diseases. The good news is that you can take hormone replacement to prevent that. Here's an article that talks about the dangers of going through menopause too soon: http://www. reuters. com/article/healthNew…However, if you're wondering if a woman who goes through menopause at 45 will live shorter than one who goes through it at 55, just because that means that the 55 is aging more slowly than the 45 year old, then, no, that's not true. They're both normal ages of menopause.

Menopause?

Florance

I am in my forties and had a hyserectomy 7 years ago. I still have my ovaries but am now having hot flushes and getting very irritable and feel drained a lot of the time. Booked in for a blood test. Could this be the start of the menopause do you think?

Cheri

Pre-Menopause (PMS) & Menopause :- Menopause is the medical term for the end of a woman's menstrual periods. It is a natural part of aging, and occurs when the ovaries stop making hormones called estrogens. This causes estrogen levels to drop, and leads to the end of monthly menstual periods. This usually happens between the ages of 45 and 60, but it can happen earlier. Menopause can also occur when the ovaries are surgically removed or stop functioning for any other reason. Low estrogen levels are linked to some uncomfortable symptoms in many women. The most common and easy to recognize symptom is hot flashes ÷ sudden intense waves of heat and sweating. Some women find that these hot flashes disrupt their sleep, and others report mood changes. Other symptoms may include irregular periods, vaginal or urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence (leakage of urine or inability to control urine flow), and inflammation of the vagina. Because of the changes in the urinary tract and vagina, some women may have discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse. Many women also notice changes in their skin, digestive tract, and hair during menopause. Homeopathic Medicine & Treatment for Pre-Menopause (PMS) & Menopause#Lachesis [Lach]Suits especially women who never get well from the change of life; "have never felt well since that time." It corresponds to many climacteric troubles, such as haemorrhoids, haemorrhages, vertigo, burning on the vertex and headaches. It is remedy for women worn out by frequent pregnancies, with sudden cessation of the menses, trembling pulse, headache, flushing of the heat and rush of blood to the head, cold feet and constriction about the heart. Amyl nitrite. Flushes of heat at change of life. The 30th potency acts well here. Strontiana carbonica. Flushes of heat with head symptoms relieved by wrapping head up warmly. Sanguinaria. Flushes at climaxis; headache with profuse menses. Caladium. Pruritus at menopause. Aconite. Derangements of circulation at menopause. Hughes also praises Glonoine for these conditions. Veratrum viride. Perhaps no remedy controls the flushes of heat, so annoying to women at the change of life, as well as Veratrum viride.#Cimicifuga [Cimic]is very often the remedy for the suffering incident to the change of life. There is sinking at the stomach, pain at the vertex and irritability of disposition. The patient is restless and unhappy, feels sad and grieved. Bayes prefers the 6th and 12th potencies to the lower dilutions. It is but just to state that many have been disappointed in the use of this remedy. Caulophyllin 3X. Dr. Ludlam praises this remedy for nervous conditions following the climaxis, when there is "great nervous tension and unrest with a propensity to work and worry over little things." Sepia. Congestion at the climaxis, in characteristic Sepia constitutions, are quickly benefited by the remedy.#Bellis perennis [Bell] Our English confreres use this remedy quite extensively in what is termed a "fagged womb." The patients are very tired, want to lie down, have a backache. There is no real disease, but a marked tiredness all the time. Carduus is of supreme importance for liver troubles at the climaxis Ustilago. Often rivals Lachesis in controlling the flooding during the climaxis. Vertigo is characteristic. Take the remedy which is similar to your symptoms. No side effects or complications if taken as directed, please do not exceed the given dosage and under any circumstances do not try to mix any remedies and avoid Chocolates, Mints, Coffee, Red Meat, Alcoholic and Carbonated drinks, Spicy Rich Food while taking any Homeopathic remedies, and keep the medicines away from direct sunlight, heat strong smells and perfumes and do not store them in the fridge. Curing without any side effects or Complications Thats the Beauty of Homeopathic Medicine. Homeopathic remedies are prescribed according to the individual symptoms of the patient from head to toes(Mental and Physical Symptoms). If your symptoms are not given above please post your complete symptoms or consult a Homeopathic Practitioner in your area. Best of health to you. Take Care and God Bless You!

Can a woman who has gone thru the menopause get pmt symptoms each month?

Jere

Like swollen breasts, bad temper, craving for chocolate, the usual things but most strange is the periiod pains. Help?

Delia

The menopause is considered the date of the last period but really we are talking about the perimenopause which is a number of years before the menopause and a number of years after the menopause. Fertility is said to have ended up to a year after the last period so the cycle continues but the levels of hormones are less and events, like ovulation and periods, are not necessarily triggered. This period of time varies with the individual but can take about ten years. During this time the ovary produces less oestrogen, but other cells take over that role, so the adrenal gland can produce some oestrogen and so do fat cells. Part of the reason many women lay down fat during this time in their life. The implication is that there is some hormonal imbalance and she probably need to think about her health and take a good yeast free multi vitamin mineral supplement and a good oil like Efamol's Efamarine. This should help with these conditions.

Freida

Oats are very good for helping to remove the excess oestrogen along with B vitamins. High oestrogen could trigger problems like endometriosis. Report Abuse

By definition if you have passed through the menopause there are no further cyclic changes.

Lyman

People say that it is not possible. However my mum has gone through the menopause and she seems to get PMT symptoms every month. I'm not sure if you have heard about women's cycles synchronising when they spend a lot of time together or are really close. Well There are 4 girls in my household. Our cycles are all almost perfectly synchronised. At the same time as us each month my mum gets stomach cramps and gets very moody and hungry etc. So I believe it is possible and like those of us who actually still have our period there isn't much that can be done. I recommend pain killers, lots of chocolate, pampering yourself and watching TV with your feet up. LolGood luckx

Caroline

Yes that's possible and this can even happen to women who have no wombs and ovaries anymore (my mom lol she hoped she wouldn get those symptoms anymore)

Any suggestions on how to deal with anemia related to menopause?

Harland

The doctor has prescribed vitamins. I was wondering if anyone else knew of a good website to get info or has anyone else dealt with this. I would prefer to treat this as naturally as possible. Peace.

Charmain

You can take xtra iron. Take it with a meal so it doesn't upset your stomach. It helps to also include vitamin C which helps to absorb iron. Your MD should be able to give you some medication to slow the blood loss to minimize the anemia. Might be something to consider. Some women become very tired and don't feel well. More related to the anemia than menopause. I prefer natural too; but sometimes drugs is the way to go for awhile. Won't be forever. Don't know about your preferred diet, but if you are vegetarian, you are more likely to become anemic. Red meat is a good source of iron.

Irina

cook with an iron skillet. Seriously. It will help with iron levels in your body. do you eat spinach at all? If not, you can sneak it in your foods and you won't notice it. I do this with my kids. I will make a salad and put spinach leaves in it. as long as there is ranch dressing on it the kids won't know. Also, when making lasagne, I chop up the spinach real small so it looks like oregano etc and the kids don't know that it's there.

Hildred

I'd find a chat room and ask others in similar situations or ones that have been through it. The net has rooms with just about every topic. You'll make friends AND get info from those who are like minded or in the same boat. Yep... both answers above me seem right though.

Belen

Check the Wyeth website. They have been helping women for over sixty years with menopause symptoms. Good luck, GEM! http://www. wyeth. com/therapyareas
