How can i lose that stubborn 10 pounds that i have gained since menopause started?
Marsha
Count your carbs and excercise. Women should only have 45 grams of carbs per meal and 15 grams per snack. Snacks are allowed 3 times a day usually 2-1/2 to 3 hours after a meal. Meals should be eaten every 5 to 6 hours and at or around the same time everyday. If you get hungry in between snacks and meals eat a small amount of low fat protein such as 1/4 cup of lowfat cottage cheese or 1 ounce of lowfat cheese You should only have 1 oz of protein for breakfast, 2 oz for lunch and 3 oz for dinner. Cut down on starchy foods like potatoes, lima beans, corn and peas. You should only have 1/2 cup of these items per meal and only 2 starches per meal. This includes bread. You should also eat 1/2 cup of two other non-starchy vegetables, and a piece of fruit with each meal. Most fruits count as 15 carbs, 1/2 of a bannana, 3/4 cup of blueberries, 12 cherries or a small apple all equal 15 grams of carbs, this is included in your 45 grams per meal. If you eat this way with 30 minutes of moderate excercise 5 days a week you should be able to loose your 10 pounds. Good luck. This is information I got from a nutritionist and my doctor for pre-diabetes but it is an overall program for healty eating and weight maintenance. I have already lost 13 lbs in a month eating this way. You can email me and I can give you more snack and meal tips, but it won't be tonight. I am going to bed.
