How long does menopause last? when will i start feeling better?

Deangelo

I am 45 and I think I have been dealing with the symptoms for about 2 years do i still have Much longer?

Conchita

Go to your GYN and tell what symptoms you are having. She should check your hormone levels with testing. She will tell you about natural hormone replacements, what foods to eat or not to eat and certain vitamins that might help. If she doesn't help you there are other Doctors that will. Menopause may last a long time but with your doctor's help your symptoms might get better to handle. Do some reading up on this subject too. The more knowledge you have about menopause the better you be able to decide what to take or decide what is the best treatment for you.

My mom started menopause when she was about 48 or 49, but she was having the sypmtoms for almost 4 years. So you dont really have much long might kick in when your a bit closer to 50.

Good gad that can last forever with some women and effects others like nothing it depends...everyone is differentYou may want to try researching a natural type of hormone replacement...certain foods and vitamin supplements can help....Heck if I knew how weird the body turns after a certain age with wild gray hairs popping out in odd places and falling bladders and getting all the odd stuff that your mom had I would have been way more wild and crazy when I was youngerway way more......

Does weight affect how early one goes into menopause?

Patrina

I am heavy set and 39 years old. Suddenly the cycles are not regular anymore and I have had some symptoms of menopause. Hot flashes, sudden lactose intolerance, Nausea, anxiety. Anyone know if this might be menopause?

Crissy

welcome ver_jen to your new age of life! just some chemical in balance to your body when i quit smoking my body went thru major changes and stress my daughter if you remember...it was to much and my body just changed and the hot flashes were the worst for me and all of your other changes are the norm for me being epileptic those are natural for me other than the hot flashes and losing weight! good luck to you and your whole family!

Missy

I don't think weight has anything to do about when you go into menopause. You are certainly in the age range to enter what is called perimenopause, the years before you actually hit menopause. Medical definition of menopause is not having any periods for 12 months in a row. I have read where heavier women have it a bit easier with menopause as the body can convert some of the body fat into estrogens instead of having to take hormone replacements. I had what's called surgical menopause when I had a hysterectomy and due to ovarian cysts, the ovaries were removed as well. I used the hormone patches at first but they made my breasts so tender I quit using them and have not had a hot flash one and haven't taken any kind of hormones since 2003. Other than a few stray chin hairs, nothing has changed.
