How can you delay the menopause?

I think you're going to have to accept that you're not going to have a baby, darling!45 really is a dangerous age to be having a baby! All sorts can go wrong for you and your baby, not many babies or Mum's survive when they try and have children this late in life. You can't put the Menopause off either, I'm afraid! Maybe try talking to a consellor or your GP for more advice! Good Luck xxx

Adopt one! My mother in law is in her 50's and she has a bunch of foster kids. She adopted a little 5year old too.

I'm not sure if this can be done, but i've heard of a procedure that a doctor removes ur eggs until ur ready, then puts them back in ur uterus when ur ready to conceive.

Yep sorry to disapoint you but there is no way to delay the menopause its the course of life. There are reasons nature takes our fertillity away at a certain age its because of the health problems pregnancy could cause too so do think carefully. But the only way would be to donate yours eggs have them frozen and when you do marry you will recieve ivf which normally takes 2-3 attempts and is very expensive. So adoption and fostering would be something you should look into more but ofcorse this is your life i wish you all the best with the future

Go to your GYN and tell what symptoms you are having. She should check your hormone levels with testing. She will tell you about natural hormone replacements, what foods to eat or not to eat and certain vitamins that might help. If she doesn't help you there are other Doctors that will. Menopause may last a long time but with your doctor's help your symptoms might get better to handle. Do some reading up on this subject too. The more knowledge you have about menopause the better you be able to decide what to take or decide what is the best treatment for you.

My mom started menopause when she was about 48 or 49, but she was having the sypmtoms for almost 4 years. So you dont really have much long might kick in when your a bit closer to 50.

Good gad that can last forever with some women and effects others like nothing it depends...everyone is differentYou may want to try researching a natural type of hormone replacement...certain foods and vitamin supplements can help....Heck if I knew how weird the body turns after a certain age with wild gray hairs popping out in odd places and falling bladders and getting all the odd stuff that your mom had I would have been way more wild and crazy when I was youngerway way more......

Someone I know said they were pregnant after the menopause by getting a serge of hormones?(and obviously after sleeping with someone) is this possible?

From what I understand, it is not possible AFTER menopause, but DURING menopause -- and even more likely for multiple births at that time as well!

Menopause is not the end of everything. Menopause is caused by hormone changes and it may be able to reverse due to hormone therapy. But it is generally believed that offspring out of ovum of old women is likely to have birth defects. It is possible to be pregnant in that way.

It's amazing just how many women do get pregnant because they think they are "safe" during this time, usually they aren't in full menopause, just maybe haven't had their period for several months. My mom got pregnant with her sixth child when she was 45 - it was a very happy surprise for us all!

Yes, the doctor told me its unlikely after around 48 years old but each month I panick as periods are very irregular, my grandmother had her first child at the start of the menopause and 5 years later her 4th child.

So I am 14 and a bit and I haven't gotten my period yet. My mum is like 52 or something and she still has her period, I thinks she was also a late developer. Is their any link between going through puberty late and going through menopause late?

Nope. Getting your period late has nothing to do with having menopause later.

What herbal medication do you recommend for the menopause?

Please ONLY post a reply if you are experiencing the menopause or have been through it. Mostly I am coping but am finding the "sweats" really difficult. I have an appointment to see my GP about the problem on Wednesday.

I am afraid no safe herbal preparations can be used. Phyto-oestrogens ( plant oestrogens ) are sometimes suggested, but there is no long term safety data on their use. The commonest and most effective symptom management is still conventional HRT. It's risks are real, but often exaggerated. Short term use is often the only successful option.
