Does a woman 50 yrs undergoing menopause require contraception?

Ernest

She is sexually active everyday and her periods are infrequest. If she does need contraception which is the one best suited other than condoms. Reason is shes menopausal hence maybe beyond pregnancy but because she get periods she can still get preg but they are irregular.

Allena

if she's still ahving periods, she's still producing eggs and can therefore become pregnant. she needs to use contraception

Cathern

you can still get pregnant while going through menopause, as you havent totally stopped your cycles yet, theyre jhust slwoing down. every heard of a chnage of life baby? my uncle is one of those, he has brothers who were in their thirties when he was born, his mom was menopausal and thought she couldnt get pregnant and then bam heres my uncle. she can still use birth control

Cedrick

That's something she should definitely ask her doctor about. But, if she's having periods, she can still get pregnant, so she needs to be using something.

Chantell

after she hits menopause she don't get her period which means no ovulation

Change in menstruation cycle with menopause?

Ardella

I am 49 yrs old and have always had regular periods. My last period was almost nothing. No cramps and hardly any bleeding at all, just light pink and sometimes a little brown. Is this a symptom of menopause.

Kathlene

It is one of many symptoms. Do you have hot flashes. At your age you very well could eb going into menopause. My wife stopped having periods when she was 47.

Do women give up after menopause because they can no longer get any?

Cristopher

Or is it because they no longer have sex drives?

Roselee

The second. You may think it's the first, but post-menopausal women must not be that bad if Helen Mirren is named Sexiest Women Alive.

Jarrett

no eggs means, less hormones... less sexual desire... = NO SEX.... LMAO

Carole

I think they "can't get any" before menopause - aren't they at least in their late 40's by that time?

Dirk

Oh, you guys have NO clue.

Jeffry

I don't personally know any post-menopausal women who can't get any. My husband can't keep his hands off me, and my sister's boyfriend (22 years younger than she is) seems just as besotted with her as he has been for the last 20 years. My best friend's boyfriend seems pretty keen on her as well. I can however confirm that some women's sex drive diminishes after the menopause. This is certainly true of me.

How do you deal with women going thru menopause?

Alva

I'm pretty sure my mom is going through menopause right now because she is really irritable and moody and she's giving my dad the silent treatment because he got mad at her. Today was her birthday but she didn't even want to eat the cake we got her. I'm really pis$ed off about this and I want my family back. Anything I can do or do I just have to wait it out?

Alexander

Menopause is the period marked by the natural and permanent cessation of menstruation. A woman begins to see changes in her menstrual cycles usually between the ages of 45 and 55. It's the time in a woman's life that the function of her ovaries begins to cease. Most people recognize this as the "turning point".Some women may have few or no first signs of menopause, while others experience multiple psychological and physical symptoms. The symptoms and severity of them varies significantly from woman to woman. Every woman's experience will be different but some of the common first signs of menopause are:-Irregular Periods - Hot Flashes - Problems with the Vagina and Bladder - Loss of Sex Drive - Fatigue - Mood Changes - Headaches - Sleep Problems - Water RetentionCan you imagine having to deal with all that and nobody understands what you’re going through? Spend some time and talk to her about your concerns (Your Mom’s Health and Well Being). Show empathy for her. The more you can learn on your own about this change, the more your mom will open up to you about it. This could help tremendously.

Paulina

Menopause can be a frightening and frustrating time of life for some women. A lot is happening to her body and it can affect your mental/emotional state. If your mom is going through menopause, you and your dad need to be supportive and understand the physical causes of the changes that are taking place. Encouraging her to talk about what she is experiencing. Open communication always promotes understanding. As moods change you may be able to provide support by being more flexible and comforting. Offer to help. Simple things like doing the dishes or cleaning up before she gets home. Mutual love, caring, and communication are necessary to manage the adjustments that always need to be made, to a greater or lesser degree, during these transition years.

Arlette

I have the same problem with my mother, its literally as if they are bipolar. You want to be careful about how and when you approach her about this. Its a really difficult time in their lives emotionally and physically, and I think that they realise how horrible they are acting, but just seriously cant control it, the best thing to do honestly, is walk away and whisper under your breath what a cow shes being and try and laugh it off, arguing with her is going to make it worse, and be a real good support to your dad. You mom will get over this hump I promise...but when it is a good time, maybe sit down and talk to her, let he know there are healthy vitamins and tell her to make sure she is keeping up with her personal wellness, bring her a flower every once and awhile or call her and ask her how she is doing, I assure you she WILL get over this

Janita

Definitly talk to your mom when shes calm about your feelings, dont be mean about it be sincere, this will be a rough time for everone and you all need to come up with solutions for things to keep everyone happy. Also, waiting it out is a good one, just remind yourself that she is going through a tough time and things will work out for the best soon.

Graig

Have you voiced your feelings to your parents? Let them know, and not to make them bad, but you really care about your parents and your family. Try to talk to your mom when she's in at least a decent and/or good mood; the talk would possibly go smoother. Good luck!

Arnette

My mom is the same way sometimes. You can't do anything about it. Although, birth control pill can help with menopause by regulating the hormones in her body.

Do the bodyhormone changes of menopause make your muscles suddenly weaker?

Beverlee

Suddenly I am much weaker & I am in the middle of menopause. Just wondered if they're connected.

Allison

Yes, it is possible that the hormonal changes could have some effect but it's also possible that you could be dealing with low potassium levels. Being low on potassium can cause muscles to be weak. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

What age does menopause on average start?

Ethyl

Like my friend is 44 but hasnt had any symtoms...

Booker

Actually, it can start in your early 30s or in your 60s. It really isn't a magical thing. It is estrogen dominance. As our bodies age, progesterone production decreases more than estrogen production does. Couple that natural occurrence with the onslaught of phyto and xeno-estrogens in the life of the 21st century woman, and you can even see symptoms of estrogen dominance as young as 20! These extra estrogens in our lives are in anything soy, parabens, phenoxyethenol, and many other added chemicals. They are releases by microwaving in plastic, washing your hair, doing you laundry, and a host of other ways. We are being attacked by them. You friend must be living a fairly estrogen free lifestyle to still have no symptoms of estrogen dominance. But, then again, is she? I was 45 when I started realizing the my tiredness, weight gain, irregular periods, bloating, sleeplessness, liver pains and other symptoms were more than just aging. I started taking USP Progesterone (Progestelle brand) which is sold over the counter, and most of the symptoms went away within a month. I then started getting rid of the estrogens that were excess in my household, make my own laundry detergent, avoid all soy and even flax, no caffeine, and many other items on the lists, and feel much better. Every woman should educate herself on what menopause is - estrogen dominance, and live a lifestyle in preparation for the body changes which happen as we age. Dr. John Lee and Dr. William Eckhart, both MDs, are very well versed and you can find their literature and more by searching on the internet. It is well worth the education now! I wish I had known this about 10 years ago.

Chaya

when your 50

Elvin

average age for onset on menopause in the us is 52. Your friend has a long time to go.

Daina

IT DEPENDS...THERE'S THIS MYTH THAT GOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS, IF U WANT TO KNOW THE AGE OF UR MENOPAUSE JUST LOOK AT WHAT AGE UR MOM HAD HERS AND THERE IS 98% CHANCE THAT U'LL HAVE IT TOO AT THAT AGE SO LETS SAY FOR INSTANCE UR FRIENDS MOM HAD HERS AT 45 THEN UR FRIEND WILL HAVE IT 45 ETC. HOWEVER, THE AVERAGE IS 50 BUT AS AFORESAID IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON'S MOTHER B/C ITS IN THE GENES

Kellee

I have heard 50 but hun I tell you the truth my friends are in their early forties and going through too... I am nearing forty and not looking forward to the horror stories I have heard.

Aundrea

If you want to know all about menopause there is a nice bookyou can get all your answers+ diet and natural advice in it www. ehealth4you. comgood luck

Melodi

Natural menopause occurs as your ovaries stop producing hormones. It usually occurs between the ages of 48 and 55, with the average at about 51 and a half years. However, if it is induced menopause which occurs when a woman has her ovaries surgically removed or when ovaries stop functioning, it can happen at any age.
