Could peri or menopause be making me feel masculine?

Chasity

I'm a 41yo woman. Lately, much to my chagrin, I've been feeling a sort of hypermasculinity. I also have acne along my jawline, which I've read can indicate an excess of androgens. Could both of these things be indicative of menopause? Are there any natural, vegan, non-hormonal remedies?

Hattie

Some plants, such as soybeans, are estrogenic. I think the soybeans have to be raw, not sure on that.

Anyone in the medical field that may know menopause symptoms?

Lynda

I am 51 and in the process of the "change".Have been diagnosed. I use to be good at organizing anything that came along, but for a couple of years now, I can't even organize my papers, mail, insurance policies, etc. I always loved office supplies, now they confuse me. I have a stack of personal papers that I transfer from the bed to the floor every night and back to the bed every morning. I can't figure out where to put them or how to organize it. My cd's and dvd's aren't quite as messy. I'm scatter brained. I'm also a little compulsive about keeping my kitchen counter clean, whether the dishes are done or not. I wasn't like this before. Can this be caused by menopause? Thank you.

Barbara

Good Website: http://www. menopauserx. com/Symptoms:Hot flashes Estrogen replacement 2% bioidentical progesterone cream Meditation and relaxation Dietary improvements, like eliminating white rice and foods made from white flour from your diet, as well as soda, alcohol and sweets Add 45–160 mg of soy isoflavones to your daily diet. Herbal therapies such as Remifemin or Women's Menocaps, reliable brands found in natural food stores Acupuncture Night sweats Solutions are the same as for hot flashes. Heart palpitations If you are experiencing these, see your doctor immediately. They could be symptoms of a much more serious condition. Migraine headaches Avoid trigger foods like caffeine, alcohol, red wine, chocolate, peanuts and aspartame (found in some diet drinks). If there is no change, try eliminating wheat, sugar, corn and dairy for two weeks. Avoid or transform potential stress by keeping a journal of what's going on when your headaches start. You should begin to see a pattern that you can then take steps to change. Balance your hormones with a 2% bioidentical progesterone cream, applied to the skin. Eat more soy. Try herbal remedies like feverfew. and butterbur that have been shown to relieve migraine pain. Supplements such as Magnesium and EPA and DHA (fish oil) are also effective at relieving migraine pain. Breast swelling and tenderness Follow a hormone-balancing diet. Take 100–200 mg of B vitamins and omega-3 fats such as EPA and DHA once or twice daily. Cut out caffeine. Use a 2% bioidentical progesterone cream. Add whole soy foods to your diet. Heavy menstrual periods Consult your doctor about progesterone or birth control pills. Investigate acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. In severe cases, laser surgery can help. Check with your doctor. Irregular or erratic periods If you can live with it, hang in there. The problem will go away. Talk to your doctor about alternatives such as birth control pills, progesterone cream or the herb chaste berry. Fibroids These growths will usually shrink dramatically after menopause and don't require surgery. Consult your doctor about having the growths removed if necessary. Weight loss, acupuncture, herbal remedies, dietary change and progesterone are effective alternatives in many cases. Change in libido Have your hormonal levels checked. Adrenal exhaustion can be helped with supplemental amounts of testosterone or DHEA. Have your doctor check for reduced amounts of estrogen or thinning of the vaginal tissue. If your sex drive has increased, channel your extra energy into a creative outlet that helps you get the most out of your life. Vaginal dryness and/or painful intercourse Try a vaginal lubricant during intercourse. Topical estrogen cream, vitamin E suppositories, systemic estrogen therapy, or increased intake of soy can be helpful. Check with your doctor. Urinary symptoms Can often be resolved through the use of a locally applied estrogen cream. Kegel exercises (contracting and strengthening the muscles of the pelvic floor) can increase blood flow to the area and help with stress incontinence. Skin problems A variety of treatments will help build collagen, resurface the skin, and prevent wrinkles. Try systemic hormones, adding soy to your diet, and antioxidant supplements like vitamin C and E. Bone loss Get adequate phytohormones from foods such as soy, from herbs, hormone replacement and calcium and magnesium supplements. Strengthen your bones by beginning a weight-bearing exercise program. Insomnia If related to hot flashes, try the solutions listed above. If related to anxiety, you may need to make some changes in your life that the anxiety is bringing to your attention. You may just need more sleep than you previously did. Try daytime naps to relieve your insomnia. Fuzzy thinking Try herbs such as ginkgo and St. John's wort. Soy isoflavones or hormones like progesterone or estrogen are also helpful.

Will husbands lose interest in sex when their wife starts menopause?

Kathleen

If women lose their interest in sex soon after menopause begins, will their husbands still be sexual aroused alone?

Ezekiel

I will let you in on a little known fact:Sex after menopause can be better, more satisfying - and more frequent as well - with two fit and healthy partners!

Fletcher

No at all! Since husband and wife are in true love, menopause is a new appointment to renew love and start a new phase of life. But Husband must help his wife to get out and escape some stress and anxiety. I think that : http://menopauseandweight. com/sitemap. xml is a good referance for both men and women to surf different link there and get enough knowledge about perimenopause and menopause. You are invited to visit it. Thanks and happy new year.

Filomena

Not sure where you got your information but sex after menopause is greater! I would say that a healthy sex life at that point would be from 4 to 5 times per week! If women have a healthy sex life before it should not change but I think that at any age once you start going without for long periods of time then you want less.

Eboni

Women don't lose all interest in sex after menopause, nor do husbands. It just isn't as frequent. Jordan, your expectations of the frequency for sex after menopause [4-5 times a week] is very optimistic. No one I know does it that often, and I am in that age group.

Dominque

Women don't always lose interest in sex after menopause. Sex can become uncomfortable because those organs don't respond as well as they used to, but that's why lubricants were invented! How a woman reacts to natural aging is different from woman to woman.

Cristi

I think that both should work some thing out. You can't just stop having sex because one person doesn't feel like they need to anymore. That's very selfish of that person. COMMUNICATE...COMPROMISE...

Destiny

Will husbands lose interest in sex when their wife starts menopause? The answer to this question is as follows...............the women lose there interest in sex and that drives men CRAZY!!!

Lesha

Men like sex no matter where they are in life...old, young, group, alone...lol.

Bibi

old people still have sex!

What are the typical signs of menopause?

Chance

I'm 45...shouldn't I be showing signs by now? I'm not. I can't ask my mother because she had a hysterectomy at 36, and my grandmother is dead. There's no one else in my family to ask about the average age for our family, but it seems like I ought to be showing symptoms by now!

Debbie

Some women don't start going thru menopause until they are in their fifties. Some of the most common symptoms areChanges in your menstrual cycle - i. e., longer or shorter periods, heavier or lighter periods, or missed periods Hot flashes (power surges -- sudden rush of heat from your chest to your head) Palpitations, skipped heartbeats Internal shaking / tremor-like feelings Night sweats Vaginal dryness Dry skin and skin changesYou may be one of the lucky ones that will breeze right through it.

Margit

You become a ***** and no one can stand to be around you.

Brinda

starts out with abnormal periods, first long ones with heavy bleeding and then they shorten with less bleeding, then you may start skipping them....and some women cant sleep well. You will become emoitional...cry alot ect... have hot flashes...night sweats ect.....some women go through the change and never even have any symptoms at all, but one thing is for certain...you will know when it happens darling...good luck. also...most women dont feel symptoms until they reach 50

Erasmo

Technically, you don't actually "hit" menopause until it's been one year since your final menstrual period. In the United States, that happens about age 51, on average. The signs and symptoms of menopause, however, often appear long before the one-year anniversary of your final period. They include: * Irregular periods * Decreased fertility * Vaginal dryness * Hot flashes * Sleep disturbances * Mood swings * Increased abdominal fat * Thinning hair * Loss of breast fullnessThe most accurate way to determine if you are in menopause it to observe for lack of menstrual cycles for 12 consecutive months when you are in the appropriate age group, which is anywhere between 40 and 58.

If you start your period early say 10 years old will you go into menopause earlier too?

Dodie

I started at 10, 7 years ago, is it possible or some sort of fact that if you start earlier, then you will "finish" earlier too?

Georgann

Baby girls are born with as many eggs the will ever need, some will die & some mature until all the reproductive organs work together then they will have there first period sometimes as young as 8 or as old as 18.women could have menopause on average at 45 & as late as 55 or some can get it even earlier through medical reasons or they could get it as young as there early 30s. There's know given time unless of course there's a medical reason. I hope that answers your question. Hope it Helps. Good Luck

Clarisa

More related to when your mother had the menopause - generally speaking you would have your menopause then too. The only exception to the rule is if your mother went through the menopause early due to a medical reason such as hysterectomy or chemotherapy.

Laura

woah i never even thought of that lol i started young too. in 4th grade i think i was 10

The woman was too old to have babies because she was past menopause how could she have one?

Shannon

The words "miracle" and "devine intervention" are just mumbo-jumbo.

Emerald

Must be talking about Sarah_ ?God does anything he wants and when he wants to..

Nell

nothing is impossible

Gena

What woman are you referring to?

Elwanda

you apparently cannot grasp the fact that if God says it will happen, it WILL happen!

Elroy

If Jesus Can Raise a Dead man from the Grave, then yes it is possible

Ebonie

That is a good question. Example please?

Allen

It happens, it's documented, deal with it. http://www. safemenopausesolutions. com/me…

Dorene

If it's Sarah, then no explanation will suffice because it had everything to do with Divine Intervention. If it's a situation that has happened "today", then maybe she wasn't as past menopause as she thought.

Carmelia

Happens all the time. Maybe menopause wasn't really over. Maybe she had a fertilized egg implanted. Lots of ways.

Gertrud

They are not just mumbo-jumbo, She really did have a Child because God willed it and made it possible. With God all things are possible. Your talking about Sarah(Old testament) and Elizabeth(New Testament)?

Luciana

Well, she must have been a well-preserved, good-looking 90, because Abimelech took a real shine to her, and he already had a wife and female slaves.(Genesis 17:17, 20:1-18, Abraham pulling his old "she is my sister " trick once again.)

Gaynell

It's very rare but it happens. When I taught school, one of my 8-year-old students had a 60-year-old mother.

Audria

God just, you know, dammed up the blood from that last cycle until he was ready for her to get pregnant! I mean, it's silly to think that that would have harmed her in any way, or that her eggs would be nonviable by that age. Nonsense!
