6 Methods To Treat A Yeast Infection

There are a good few home remedies that treat yeast infections quickly. If you need a quick fix then this problem can be easily treated from the comfort of your own home.

Garlic is a natural anti-fungal agent. So, what that means to you is that it helps to restore the body's healthy inner balance by fighting off the Candida growing like an unstoppable rebel force in your body. To put this into play, wrap a cleaned garlic clove in cheesecloth and insert vaginally. Leave this in for about 30 minutes to an hour.

If the genital area is swollen or painful, sitting in warm water (in a bathtub or sitz bath, not a hot tub) may help. Or instead, you may try putting a cool, damp cloth on the area. Do not rub to try to relieve itching.

Change out of wet bathing suits or exercise clothes as soon as possible; the moisture (from the water or from your own sweat) and/or heat can contribute to your itchiness.

Vinegar is renowned for its antibacterial and antifungal properties. Fill a bathtub with warm water mixed with 1 cup of vinegar. Soak in this bath solution for about 20 minutes. Dry the vaginal area thoroughly using super absorbent paper. Any vinegar will do, but the best results have been found using apple cider vinegar.

Drink two or more glasses of buttermilk is a great recommendation for your daily diet and avoid too much acidic food. Try eating some bananas and avocados to balance your pH levels. Eat yogurt on a daily basis. It contains acidophilus and live bacterial cultures which regulate the levels of Candida albicans inside the vagina. Another option is to vaginally insert yogurt. Dip a tampon in non-sweetened, live culture yogurt and insert the yogurt-saturated tampon inside the vagina. Leave the tampon inside the vagina for 30 to 40 minutes twice daily. Continue this treatment until itchiness and discharge symptoms subside. By inserting yogurt into the vagina, live bacterial cultures from the yogurt attach to the vaginal wall lining and reduce the overgrowth of Candida albicans.

This one is a bit different, because all you need to do is fill a bath, and mix it with one cup of vinegar. You can stay in the bath for as long as you want, but you will only need to stay in for twenty minutes. When you are done, make sure that you dry your vaginal area. Include yogurt and soured products in your diet.  Homemade yogurt may be the best treatment for this disorder.  You may wish to purchase a yogurt maker - it is inexpensive and easy to use.  Yogurt and soured products contain microorganisms called lactobacilli, normally present in the bowel and vagina, which actually destroy the fungus.  Because the fungus multiplies in a sugary environment, reducing your intake of refined foods can alleviate symptoms.
