Would like to hear other peoples experiences of struggling through the menopause?

As I had 'everything removed' except one ovary, my menopause started early, 39! First my eyebrows fell off, honestly and then grew back so feint you can hardly see them. I had a'nervous throat' I felt I was unable to swallow and panicked so much my husband thought I was having a heart attack! The night sweats were so unbearable I could have happily slept in the fridge! We got a superking size bed so I needed a loud hailer to speak to him, true. We still have this bed thank god. I was put on HRT which made me put on about a hundred weight of fat, then my eyebrows fell off again! they didn't like HRT! The nervous throat gradually went away with a liberal ammount of alcohol. My husband never knew what sort of monster he was coming home to. He said I was like a rottweiller with lipstick. I have clung on to my remaining ovary as i feel that it is my only source of sanity. The last time I was subjected to an ugly probe to see how my ovary was it hid. This is perfectly true and they did't stop probing until they found it, a poor shrivelled up litttle peanut cringing in a corner which I was told was the result of taking HRT! No more pills for me!!! I still have the sweats and my temperature goes up and down like a yoyo. My husband says we are like Jack Sprat and his wife[if you've heard of them]. Sorry to have gone on so long but I was also quite suicidal and thought life was not worth living. My Mum sailed through her menopause with only gaining a couple of pounds and no other symptoms at all. Yes it was a struggle and still is but hey that's what all the 'fun' of being a woman is all about. P.S. I am now on Prozac for my troubles!

first of all I'd like my wife to say she has it. Every time her mood changes it's like world war 3 over the smallest thing, it's like a different woman in her body, shouting red faced hateful hag! I hate it, mood swings one day happy as can be then with a flick of a switch evil twin is back. she says she hates sex tells me to drop dead and If I ask her to put a skirt on she says **** of with a prostitute if that's what you want! apart from that I love her to bits, shes my wife!

I am 50 years old and apart from irregular monthly periods I have no other symptoms, in fact I feel really good as it has taken me till now to start a keep fit programme and my sex life has greatly improved.
