my mom is going through menapause and even though she's skinny she has trouble with about 3lbs of extra weight... her issues are salty foods b/c they cause water retention... just have smaller portions and more meals... watch the salt... my mom walks about 20 min every night and lifts some 5lb weights and does a few excersizes every other night and she manages to avoid weight gain.

The same basic way as you would at any time in your life--less food, more exercise. However, you would eat even less food and do even more exercise as your metabolism slows down. I've found increased exercise to be the best for me. With the high price of gasoline, I moved closer to downtown and now walk to do most of my errands. Also, you have to watch that you don't try to handle emotional ups and downs with food.

Avoid sugars and simple carbs like white bread, white flour pasta, etc. Eat more protein. Have your hormones checked with blood tests.
