Why does menopause cause meanness? I notice that women tend to be a little mean when going through "the change"Why? How long does menopause last? Women are kind of crazy during menopause. My mom sure is moody lately. I can't wait for her to be done. I don't live with my parents but when I visit she can be a little mean sometimes lately. How long does it last? Why are menopausal women so mean?

Is getting your period at a very young age any indication that you will go through menopause earlier?

no every womans body is different but that dosent mean you'll start menopause earlier. My mom thought that too and she asked her doctor about it and he said no.

I think this is one of the things that we will see when this generation of teens who began periods when their age was still a single digit. Two cousins began at 9; both girls were heavy, so they ate a lot of meat, which had been given hormones for more productivity. What will this do to them as women is in the future because the current generation going through menopause started at 12-13 or so. I have a lot of food allergies -- I cannot eat anything that has been in the sea. I used to be able to, but that was before the water has become polluted with mercury and zinc. It just seems that no one in the FDA will look at the long term effects -- and your question is not just excellent, it is powerful because we just do not know. Think of the book by PD James and the recent movie where no children had been born for over 20 years. I read the book a long time ago and thought pure S/F -- now, I don't think it is S/F but a distinct possibility.

Is it true that just before menopause women become extra fertile?

I have heard that as menopause approaches womens hormones alter such that they experience a last surge of super-fertility and that this is to blame for many 'accidents' created long after parents have thought their baby days were over. Is this true or an old wives tale?

You've been watching Downton abbey haven't you. To answer your question sounds like an old wive's tale to me. I think maybe a lot of pregnancies at that time are from people who have stopped taking precautions because they think they've hit the menopause.

I don't think it necessarily true. I think when a woman enters that part of her life it's the last thing on her mind and may even think she can't get pregnant right then. But surprise. It happens.

I wouldn't think so. It's a fact that older women have a harder time getting pregnant, and are more at risk for miscarriages and birth defects because their egg quality has decreased over time.
