It is always easy to recognize external changes in the body of a pregnant women but it is very unclear to make out the changes occurring in the baby in the foetus. There are different types of pregnancy calendars but most of them have many similarities too. The dates mentioned in these calendars can be worked out easily and changes or plans can be done accordingly.

The first four weeks involves conception which means the sperm from the male partner has fertilized the egg of the female partner. The beginning of the 5th week denotes development of baby's heart which is followed by development of arms and legs, till the ending of 8th week. From the beginning of 9th week till the ending of 12th week, the baby starts moving inside the uterus but most often it is not felt by the mother. It is only after the ending of 12th week, the pregnant mother starts feeling the activity of the baby inside. In between the 13th week to 16th week, doctors can medically find out the gender of the baby by using various medical instruments. At this stage, the baby starts sucking its thumb. If the doctors are trying to identify the gender of the baby in a later stage, i.e., in between the 17th and 20th week, then can make the identification more confirm as most of the baby's organs have started developing. This stage is characterized by hair on the baby's body that acts as a protective layer. To adapt to the temperature changes occurring in the mother's body before birth or its own body after birth, deposition of fat starts in between the 21st and 24th weeks. In the next four weeks i.e. from the 24th to the 28th weeks, the baby listens to the external noises as the muffled ones and starts to make movements as it feels the restricted surroundings.  In the next four weeks, the head starts growing larger than other body parts and the eyes can move. By the end of 32nd week, all organs except the lungs are fully developed. The baby will be able to blink the eyes in between the 33rd and 36th week. By the end of 40th week, the baby has fully developed lungs and starts breathing. Very soon the mother can give birth to the baby.

Hence, never throw a pregnancy calendar, rather try to understand it and chalk out proper plans for yourself and your baby.
