The current age of the onset of puberty is now 10 years, with the menarche, ( first period ) being at 12 years. The current age at the onset of the menopause is now risen to 51 years, menopause lasts from overnight to 6 years!

my period was started at 13, im 28 now, so still long way to menopause, my mum is 50 now, and her period started like reduce, only come for 1 day, think she is near to menopause.

I started with the menopause in 1998, aged 46 years old. The night sweats were so bad that I had HRT patches for a while but they did not suit me and I preferred the hot flushes - although not much - smile. It is 9 years since it all began and I am now almost through it but what an ordeal. Started my periods when I was 13 years old.

My period started when I was 14 years of age. Due to severe PID, cancer, cysts and endometrosis I had to have a full hysterectomy at age 27. And went into menopause straight away. Thant sucks at any age but still being so young and having hot flushes and mood swings, just made it harder to deal with. The hot flushes are the worst. i would get that hot that I would start stripping my clothes off to get cool, sometimes forgetting where I was. In public! But HRT settled everything down and gave me so much relief.

Some women start as early as their late twenties. It just depends on each woman. You can definitely start perimenopause very early without even knowing it.

I often wonder about that to? I just turned 39 so I know my day is coming, I do know that the younger you start your period the younger you will be when you start menopause, I also know that if you, ve been pregnant it gives your body a break from periods so it also prolongs menopause, Ive had 3 kids so I guess Ive givin my body alot of time off.{haha}, thier are alot of little symtoms your body gives off when your time is coming for menopause, for example your periods start becoming shorter, your body temperature starts to rise, your hot and sweating and feeling irritable. Now if we were to be going by age only, I'd day anywhere between 45 and 50 you should be starting menopause, I really dread it when my time comes, I dont like having periods but its much better then the much dreaded menopause.
