Plastic Surgery Westchester is for those who want to improve their physical self !

An article on the art of plastic surgery in new york and determining who the best candidate for a procedure!

Dr. Farella: Plastic surgeons in nyc have seen many people gain a new outlook on life as a result of their improved appearance. Cosmetic surgery often will help boost self-esteem and confidence. It is not any different than dieting, buying new clothes, getting your hair done or having a makeover at a cosmetics counter. If you look better, you tend to feel better about yourself.

Once, a man was in a deep depression as a result of his wife's sudden, unexpected death. After having his face and eyes lifted, everyone told him that he looked great and well rested. The positive reinforcement was important to his recovery from depression. Today, he looks better and he feels better. (Of course, he went for psychological help as well.)

i have treated women who did not have positive body images because they felt their breasts were too small. After implants, they are able to wear the clothes they had always dreamed of wearing. Some patients who have liposuction are so happy with their new contours, they begin to diet and exercise regularly. One girl had lost 100 pounds; she had so much skin hanging off her frame that we needed to perform seven or eight different operations to tighten the skin. We did liposuction, a tummy tuck, a body lift, an arm lift, a hip reduction and a breast lift. She is unbelievable. She went from a size 22 to a size 12. She wears fitted clothes for the first time in her life. She is dangerous!

I look at cosmetic surgery as an art form: someone comes to me and tells me what they are trying to accomplish. We, together form a plan, and then my staff and I perform the surgery.

Age is usually not a factor when it comes to desiring change. For instance, a 42-year-old who wanted a breast enlargement explained that she lost her beautiful body after giving birth. She said, "I'm not having any more children and I want to get back into shape. I want to do something for myself." A 19-year-old patient who wanted breast enlargement surgery told me, "My parents never let me get it done. The size of my breasts has bothered me since I was in high school. I always felt insecure, unlike my sisters who were well-endowed. I'm of age. I have the money to spend and I want to do it."
